Tsukino Usagi is a normal 14-year-old girl who lives in a house in Juuban, Japan with her mother (Ikuko), father (Kenji), and younger brother (Shingo). She spends her time eating, playing video games, and reading comics rather than studying. She is a poor student and often comes off as dumb, but because of naivety and laziness rather than actual stupidity. Usagi is the reincarnation of Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom during the Silver Millennium. As her mother's, Queen Serenity, final dying act after using the Silver Crystal to seal away Queen Metallia and the Dark Kingdom, Princess Serenity was sent to present-day Japan along with the other Senshi, the Royal Cats, and Prince Endymion, to live normal, happy lives, free from harm. However, the evil force unsealed itself, and started creating havoc on the streets of Tokyo, trying to kill all of those of the Moon Kingdom and steal energy from people and the Silver Crystal. This forces Luna, a black cat with a crescent-shaped bald spot, to have to awaken Usagi as Sailor Moon, along with the other Sailor Senshi, to fight against evil.

Usagi is in love with Chiba Mamoru (a.k.a. Tuxedo Kamen), who is the reincarnation of Prince Endymion of the Golden Millennium of Earth. They have many trysts throughout the show, but we know it always works out since they were lovers in their past lives and in their future, as they become Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion of Crystal Tokyo and have a child, Small Lady. Small Lady comes back from the 30th century to present-day Juuban to get Sailor Moon and her Silver Crystal to help save all of Crystal Tokyo’s inhabitants from evil. This is when Small Lady becomes Chibi-Usa during the show, to seemingly destroy Usagi’s love life and peace of mind. However, the world is saved once again, and Chibi-Usa becomes Sailor Chibi Moon to help fight alongside Sailor Moon and the Senshi.

Throughout the series, Sailor Moon gains many items and powers up to higher forms to have more powerful attacks to battle the increasingly powerful villains. This usually occurs within the first few episodes of each season, though sometimes new items, transformations, and attacks are added throughout the season.
